Discussion Topic: Newest Buckeye: Logan Stieber!!!
Ken Jameson added to this discussion on May 21, 2008

A dream come true for a great kid and family.

Logan Stieber verbally committed to attend The Ohio State University. The Jameson family wishes to congratulate the Stiebers and the Buckeyes for a great get and an outstanding future pipeline. I wonder how much the new Olympic Training Center had to do with his decision. Anyway, great job Logan on fulfilling a lifelong dream.

P.S. - Stay small please!?

Outstanding! Hopefully only the start of some huge recruiting classes. A national championship is not out of the question in the near future.

It is nice to have the "point of the spear" committed in order to possibly pave the way for other Monroeville wrestlers/siblings...

WOW! Looks like Stieber knows where he wants to be without a shadow of a doubt. Obviously, Ohio State feels the same. Can he graduate early from high school? Congrats to Logan and Ohio State.

Two words for why the commitment if you ask me: Lou Rosselli!

What a coup Tom Ryan secured when setting up his coaching staff summer of 2006. THE premier lower weight assistant in the nation for FS and folkstyle.

Congratulations to Logan and family and best of luck during the coming spring/summer season.

Does anybody know what he would project at? 125 for life??? 133??? I think 141 would be as far as it went...If that's even possible.

If he is at 133, it would still be possible to land a one David Taylor (...he's from St. Paris Graham, Scott) for 125. Just a possibility.

But then again, there are two other Eagle teammates that aren't half bad.

I have to agree with Josh. In OSU's long history, they never had a National Champ under 158 lbs. Lou signs on as assistant coach last year, what do we get; 141 lb. 2008 NCAA Champion J Jaggers, along with a solid lineup of light weights. Coincidence? I think not <thumbsup> <thumbsup> <thumbsup>

"Two words for why the commitment if you ask me: Lou Rosselli!"

Yes, he played a big part, I am sure. But I'll give you two more words: scarlet & gray, alot of Ohio kids bleed it. The Buckeyes just needed the right environment to take advantage of the love for the Buckeyes in this state. Why leave?

"What a coup Tom Ryan secured when setting up his coaching staff summer of 2006. THE premier lower weight assistant in the nation for freestyle and folkstyle."

Yes, coach Rosselli is a huge asset, but Eric Guerrero and John Smith aren't bad at Oklahoma State. Word is Jordan Oliver went there in large part due to 3x NCAA champion and former Olympian Eric Guerrero, who can still mix it up on the mat. Then there's Tom Brands at Iowa. Mike Mena at Indiana isn't bad either. In fact, three of the last four NCAA champs at 125 have been from IU - 2x champ Dubuque and this year Escobedo. What about former World Champion and World Team coach Zeke Jones at the U of Penn? Matt Valenti won two NCAA titles recently at 133 under Jones.

What kind of student is Stieber? Just wondering, because that is why we go to college, right?

I was also wondering if I am missing something. Were the OSU coaches even able to offer him a scholarship yet? I didn't think that they could unless something has changed since I was recruited and the kids that I coached were recruited. I know the whole gray area with Stieber making first contact then the coach can speak with him and all that nonsense, but I didn't think that even then, they were allowed to talk money until July 1 following the athletes Junior year.

Maybe I am wrong, or maybe Stieber has just said, I am coming and it doesn't matter how much money I get.
