Discussion Topic: We knew it was happening.

Starocci is coming back for #5.

He had stated previously that he would win #4. Win Olympic Gold then head to MMA because #5 didn't interest him.

$$ changes things -- that, the injury and not making it past round 2 at the trials obviously changed it.

There isn't a single guy I'd like to see lose more (that probably won't) in college wrestling. He (or at least the persona he puts out for his brand) is easy to not like.

I'm not a particular fan of Starocci, but I would think that the possibility (more like likelihood) of being the first and likely only 5X NCAA champion in history would be a decent draw to come back. The odds of another situation like COVID happening and it being handled in a similar way are pretty low. That would make him the only guy to ever do this thing and separate him from the other 4Xers. I've never met the man and don't follow him on social media, but he seems like the kind of person that that would appeal to.

Yeah, how do you pass up the opportunity to win a 5th. With that said... how ridiculous that he has that opportunity. I think next year is the last year for COVID year hangers on... good riddance.

Surprised he made it official this early in the season, must have something else up his sleeve to bring more attention to himself.

IMO he was always coming back. He and Bartlett were just following the RBY playbook.

Publicly float the idea that you're not coming back. Get yourself a nice little raise. Announce you're coming back because you have "unfinished business," you love your team, you want to make history, etc.

If he bumps up to 197, he may not win it.

When I see him doing an interview I like him, but then I see him on X and think he is a total D bag.

Who do you think at 197 will beat him?

I bet he only wrestles 2nd semester.

I think his schtick is intentional and to draw interest to the sport. Self-promotion is valuable and we should take it for what it is.

As far as coming back for another season - can't wait for the extra years are extinguished. Silliness.

He's going to be small. Size matters.

Jim, I agree. Carter in interviews is thoughtful and often humble. I like him. He needs to abandon social media.

A guy like Carroll from Okie State could give him some real problems with his size. Dude is ripped.

A.J. Ferrari I believe can beat him. He is a huge 197. Looks like he’s training in Iowa now.

He isn't so much anymore - post title #4. Check out his interview after his trials were over. He said he'd "spit in his (JB's) face" if he had hit his head like that." Saying JB isn't a tough guy. Apparently spitting in somebody's face makes you a tough guy.
