Discussion Topic: Penn State v. Iowa; Friday, Jan. 28th
Mark Niemann added to this discussion on January 27, 2022

I feel most of us on this forum are wrestling fans too, so when our favorite team isn’t the main focus, we can still get along.

#1 Penn State (13-0) v. #3 Iowa (11-0)
125: #7 Hildebrandt (4-1) v. #11 Drake Ayala (13-4)
133: #1 Bravo-Young (10-0) v. #3 Austin DeSanto (12-0)
141: #1 N. Lee (10-0) v. #2 Jaydin Eierman (12-0)
149: #19 Bartlett (10-3)v. #10 Max Murin (6-2)
157: Barraclough (6-6)/Negron (1-5) v. #12 Young (10-5)
165: #11 B. Berge (3-0)/Edsell (7-3) v. #5 Marinelli (14-1)
174: #1 Starocci (13-0) v. #2 Michael Kemerer (5-0)
184: #1 Brooks (11-0) v. #17 Abe Assad (9-2)
197: #2 Dean (12-1) v. #4 Jacob Warner (11-1)
285: #3 Kerkvliet (11-0) v. #5 Tony Cassioppi (9-2)

I’ve received word that this line-up has changed a bit from the original publication. That stinks as this dual line-up is DYNOMITE!!!!!!!!!

Either way, what do you see? How do you see this dual meet going down?

I def look forward to watching this.

Are you hearing 133 and 141 are still on? I bet we wont get either of those matchups.

Nice matchups on paper. Iowa has to win the close ones and I doubt that happens but you never know.

I like watching how Iowa guys, who we just wrestled, go up against the PSU team that OSU will be wrestling soon. Desanto & Eierman have missed quite a few matches already, will they be willing to go against Bravo-Young and Lee? Can Dean beat Warner?

The Minnesota/Michigan match two hours earlier on the same network should also be worth watching.

I was disappointed that v *ichigan, Micic didn't wrestle against Eierman. I hate that these types of matches don't happen because they feel their best moves get scouted and then neutralized in the tournaments. The dual season is anti-climactic in wrestling any more or maybe it always has been.

They know the moves anyway. It's all about seeding.

Where did you see anything on matches not happening? I haven’t seen anything on Iowa or PSU boards? Only match I saw anything on was 125 where PSU poster said Ayala was out but Iowa boards say otherwise.

Taken from the listings of potential competitors on the news outlets. There are two names listed for 125 & 133. I personally did not see 141, but wouldn’t put it past either team holding out anyone.

141 had one name but do agree with you. I think probable against Bucks had 2 guys listed at 133 and we got Desanto so hopefully we see him.

125: Ayala dec. Hilldy 3-0 Iowa
133: RBY dec. DeSanto 3-3
141: Riddler dec. Lee 6-3 Iowa
149: Murin dec. Bartlett 9-3 Iowa
157: Young maj. Bearclaw 13-3 Iowa
165: Marinelli dec. Berge 16-3 Iowa
174: Starocci dec. Kemmerer 16-6 Iowa
184: Brooks dec. Assad 16-9 Iowa
197: Warner dec. Dean 19-9 Iowa
285: Kerk maj. Cass 19-13 Iowa
