Deserves its own thread.

It's really incredible. This is such an incredible accomplishment. And yet, it's just a continuation of the arc of Logan's amazing career. He has been dominant on every level for as long as I have known his name, and before that.

Logan is in a two-man conversation with Lee Kemp to be known as the best wrestler ever from Ohio. Not only from a "whole career" stand point, but Logan was as good of a high schooler, as good of a collegian, and now as good of a senior level wrestler as anyone this state has produced.

Congratulations Logan!

On a side note: Ohio State--the place to go to become a freshman champ and world champ!

I'm as thrilled as you but Kemp remains in a class by himself. He was the best wrestler in the world at his weight for five years. Three world titles (78, 79 and 82) one world bronze (81) and heavily favored to win the Olympics in 1980 (boycott). Jordan Burroughs has had a similar career except for his Olympic Gold.

Is Logan the second best wrestler in Ohio history? He's in the conversation. And his best days may well be in front of him.

Who else would you put in the conversation to be considered 2nd best?

No one.

Over an 8 month period, Logan went from what seemed like a blown opportunity at the Olympic Team Trials to a World Championship. That's an incredible feat. That's more than just training...it's an almost incomprehensible level of mental toughness. I just think it takes incredible courage to rebound from disappointment, gather yourself together and do the best wrestling of your life at the biggest moment.

Congrats.

Heartiest congratulations to Logan Stieber for winning the world wrestling championship! I was extremely impressed at the high level of wrestling exhibited by Logan and his competitors. People have complained in the past about how freestyle wrestling had become boring (remember the ball grab and clinch era) but the freestyle rule changes have really enlivened the sport and it was quite enjoyable watching Logan's matches from a wrestling fan's perspective, especially since he was the victor.

I've read Logan's draw was brutal. Can anyone wth knowledge of the international scene provide credentials of the wrestlers he beat?

That is a murderer's row of international competition.

Most of the guys Logan beat have the same problem...they're really good but stuck between wts. That's why this is such a great event. Bottom line--a world title is a world title. If Logan never makes an Olympic team, he can have a very successful career at this weight.

And then, he returns home to have all his stuff stolen - medal, belt, iPad, among other things. If that ain't some terrible terribleness I'm not sure what is.
