Impressive that they both won no doubt, but how many 125's do we need? :)

When I've seen David Carr struggle, it's against physically powerful opponents. I think his technique is superb but there's no doubt he's going to have to beef up for D1.

The competition level never ceases to amaze me! I took my 4 year old with me. This was his first wrestling tournament. Poor kid will think that all wrestling tournaments carry the same energy, and atmosphere. It was also nice getting to shoot the breeze with Andrew Howe for about 45 minutes. Meeting Niemann wasnt bad either......Only things like that can happen at Ironman.

Did anyone else notice how much Chase Singletary struggled in his semis and finals wins? He's a really good wrestler but he was lot smaller than either of his last two opponents. It took a lot of skill, guile and patience for him to win. He's going to have to get a lot bigger to be a good D1 285. Honestly, he looks more like a 197. Bottom line--he's going to have to add a lot of size to his frame if the plan is for him to step in at 285 in Fall of 2018.

i stood next to him, he is 6 ft 3 at least imo, but yes the wt room beckons, i think someone said he wasnt a lifter--- yet.
what Singletary CAN do, what separates him, he attacks the lower leg so well, which Snyder proved a smaller hvwt can be lethal doing it.

The final at 138 one of the most entertaining I've ever watched.
Bob - nice work as always, look forward to the Ironman every year.

His finals opponent was Cohlton Schultz from Ponderosa, Colorado. Schultz is the #2 ranked 220 behind Singletary and did have a little more beef on him. Schultz is a multi time Fargo champion and a Greco world team member. Obviously no slouch and it should have been expected that his finals match would have been tough.
While Singletary may look undersized for a college 285 now, it was obvious standing next to him that he has probably never picked a weight up in his life. With that said, he does have the frame to put considerable size and muscle on.

Brandon: Thanks for the observations. I agree that his finals opponent was really tough. Honestly, I think Colton Shultz will make a great college 285. If Singletary has never lifted then I feel better. Repeating earlier point--Singletary is a great technician. Really slick on his feet.

A tip of the hat to you Bob. Incredible event right in our backyard. The Ohio wrestling community is to have such a great tournament within a 3-hour drive.
It was great to see other #DotNet members!
