Has there ever been a time when there was an Olympic Dual Meet competition (Country vs. Country)? I think that this would be fun to watch.....although I would want to have an odd number of weight classes. Any thoughts?

Great idea. One of my pet peeves during the Olympics is that certain sports give lots of medal opportunities to their athletes while wrestling allows for one. Swimming, for example, has individual events with different strokes as well as relays. Gymnastics has several categories as well.
Imagine if wrestling had another event where one period was free and one was greco. Best American might be Kyle Dake for this event.

i love gymnastics, maybe the greatest athletes in the world, certainly they are on a short list. 4 years ago 7 on each men & womens team, this Olympics 5, next Olympics 4--- ridiculous.

I guess you're making the distinction of Olympics only? The World Cup was a few weeks ago which is team against team.
