Discussion Topic: One Weekend Wrestling Officials Class - April 22/23/24
Fred Feeney added to this discussion on February 13, 2016

Want to get your license but don't have the time to spend 6-8 weeks on it? The Super "One weekend" wrestling referee class is for you. This OHSAA approved weekend will get you licensed as a certified Class 2 wrestling official in just one weekend. You will receive the mandatory hours of instruction needed on the rules and mechanics (where to stand, signals and where to look) of the sport, as well as the required mat time during the "Wrestling against Autism tournament. Class sessions will be on Friday April 22th and Saturday April 23th. You will then be required to step onto the mat during the "Wrestling against Autism tournament on April 24th and put to use what you have been taught in the classroom. Since you will be on the mat officiating, you will need to purchase the proper uniform prior to the class. More information on this will be sent to you after registration.
On Saturday afternoon you will then take your NFHS test, the OHSAA mechanics test and the OHSAA general information test.
This class is headed up by Frederick Feeney, a 28 year veteran of numerous OHSAA State tournaments and over 14 NCAA Championships. He will be assisted in the classroom by 4-5 other certified instructors/veteran officials and then on Sunday you will work side by side with the instructors and other officials at the tournament.
Though this is a condensed timeframe, you will have all the information taught to you, but in a more compressed time frame. The goal of this weekend is to provide every student with enough knowledge and proficiency to be successful at the entry level in sports officiating.
Out of town students: we are working on special arrangements for your hotel rooms, that will be announced shortly.
Tentative Schedule:
Friday April 22nd - Class from 10am-7pm
Saturday April 23rd- Class from 10am - 6pm
Sunday April 24th - Mat time from 9am - 4pm

Once you are registered, you will be notified of changes or additions to the schedule. If you have any questions prior, please email me: ffeeney@Columbus.rr.com

Registration will close March 14th so that we can send the rule books to all students prior to the class so that the rule book and case book are read prior to class. This is important...you will need to read the rule book and have a general understanding of the rules PRIOR to class as there will be a 20 question test given at the start of the weekend to ensure you have a working knowledge of the rules.
