Quote from Hank Kornblut's post:

"Just checked the list for the Last Chance Qualifier. Nick Heflin is listed at 86K."

Heflin vs Bo Nickal for 3rd. Interesting!

Heflin had a very good tourney. Lost first round 4-2 to eventual champ Deron Winn and came all the way back for 3rd crushing most of his comp. He has the size and style to become an intriguing prospect over the next four year cycle if he sticks with it.

Dan Mitcheff also had a solid tourney.

I'll edit the first post of this thread to keep a "sticky" up top with the latest on the qualifiers. Here are the nations that are qualified through the Africa/Ocenia OG qualifier today.

Molinaro and Cox will try to qualify the US in Mongolia tonight. Schedule is 8PM-2AM with Finals at 5AM Sunday morning.

Also, Cleveland's David Habat will be trying to qualify 65kg for Slovenia.

Unfortunately, it looks like J'den got a tough draw first match. Atyan from Armenia lost for Bronze at European Championships, but didn't wrestle at European OG qualifier.

J'Den said, "I'm the tough draw" as he absolutely destroys Atyan 11-0.

What qualifies the weight, any medal winners?

Gold, Silver, or "true" bronze. True Bronze is the two bronze medal winners wrestle to qualify the weight for Rio.

And in the next round, J'Den Cox wins with another tech (10-0).

He made it look easy. Nothing against Jake Herbert, but it's time for some new blood at that weight class. Cox is so athletic too.

He is moving much better than what I saw at the Trials as well. Everybody else in the US has a uphill climb to get him. He is wrestling like what I think Ed Ruth could have been if he'd have focused only on wrestling. He had one foot in FS and one foot in MMA -- which was sad for us wrestling fans.

Cox wrestled a good and strategic match to win in the quarters. One more win and he's qualified the weight. Cox has been impressive.
