It's weird that Dake and Tayler, finalists at 165 could face each other at 189 lbs. While Perry and Howe finalists at 174 could face each other at 163 lbs. It's funny what a 26 pound gap in weight classes will make wrestlers do to compete.
Maybe next year they can add a 176 lbs. weight class for the World Championships. Should be hotly contested.

Its weird to think Dake and Taylor could also meet Cox a 2x NC at 197 at 189.

They had it right in 1996 before downsizing came into play.
105.5, 114.5, 125.5, 136.5, 149.5, 163, 180.5, 198, 220 and heavyweight.
Opportunities and equally spaced out weight classes.

136.5 would have been perfect for Logan.

Except I think they should eliminate the 105.5 weight class and redistribute 5 weight classes from 160-220ish.

Back in the day of the 105.5 weight class, the US had a guy named Tim Vanni. Seemed like he was our rep for a decade. Not sure we had anyone else decent that could make the weight.

Heflin got a tough draw. Lost to Deron Winn 1st round 4-2. I expect Winn to beat Nickal to win 86kg.
In other interesting 2nd round action, Kolodzik tf over Tommy Thorn.
Quarterfinals coming up.

Tim Vanni was one of my favorites...he was like a tiny Tom Selleck with that mustache.
The only guy to beta him domestically, I believe, at 105, was an Oklahoma State wrestler named Cory Baze, who AA'd at 118. I think Baze, ultimately, couldn't hold the weight.
