Discussion Topic: Sad news re former OSU Coach Chris Ford
Casey Talbott added to this discussion on January 11, 2016
Just received word that Chris Ford - who as many of you know was the head coach at OSU during the 70s and 80s - has passed away, unexpectedly. Coach Ford was a good coach, and an even better man. And he was very good to me, personally, during a difficult period in my life. Please keep Coach Ford and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Discussion Topic: Sad news re former OSU Coach Chris Ford

Under the guise of better late than never, I wanted to share a quick note re Coach Ford’s wake/showing.
This was attended by family and a whole host of friends, of course, but also by a basically “who’s who†of Ohio State wrestling, past and present.
There were former coaches (e.g., DiSabato/Hellickson), former Big Ten and NCAA Champions (e.g., Ruckman, Moxley, Skove, Jaggers, etc.), and even a current World Champion, Kyle Snyder.
Yes, minutes after winning an exciting match against Nebraska, what appeared to be the entire OSU coaching staff (Ryan/Rosselli, etc.) and team (Snyder/Tomasello/Jordans, etc.) donned suits and ties, and made the trek up to Worthington to pay their respects to this fine gentleman.
I thought this was an absolute class act by the current staff/team, particularly since Coach Ford had last coached at OSU in the mid-80s, so quite a # of years before the current team members had even been born.
Coach Ford dedicated his professional life to this great sport, and in doing so had such a positive impact on so many young lives.
As a # of my former teammates and I discussed, he truly became like a second father figure to many of us, as we attempted to navigate the college years/experience.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Coach Ford’s family, during this difficult time.
RIP Coach, you will be missed.
