Some updates on how the d3 season is going for anyone who is interested.
125- Nick Mancini(Boardman/Mount Union) is one of the best in the country, currently ranked #3. The problem is, he is in the best regional in the country where #1-#4 are all in his regional. This is not including 2x Baldwin Wallace AA Gunter, who is up at 33 now but could drop back down. Mancini will have to be top 3 in the region to qualify, but is certainly an AA if he does. Also ranked at this weight is Evan Krumheuer(Midpark/Johns Hopkins).
133- Jesse Gunter(Coventry/Baldwin Wallace) is ranked #3 up at 133 after being a 2x AA at 125. He is tough as nails and will look to upend Grossman from wilkes who is looking to become a 2x champ. Alec Cotton(Uniontown Lake/Mount Union) is also ranked this year after backing up AA Border. Joe Brodman(Tiffin Calvert/Whitewater) has also been ranked and is wrestling well.
141- Jeremy Border (Caldwell/Mount Union) is ranked 3rd. He was 3rd at NCAA's two years ago and didnt compete at NCAAs last year due to injury. He is GOOD. Unfortunately, he has a d1 transfer stud in his weight, Van Anrooy from luther who will be tough to beat. Also ranked #8 is Josh DeCatur(CVCA/Baldwin Wallace). Josh has gotten better every year and just missed AA last season. Justin Kihn (Kettering Fairmont/Heidelberg) is one of my former teammates and is ranked low. He is a sleeper, kid is tough as nails and has a win over decatur.
149- Joe Schmidt(Brunswick/Baldwin Wallace) is ranked #10 is the country. My apologies I don't know much about him. Damon Cheek (Bellevue/Heidelberg) is a wrestler that never qualified for state, but has had a great career. He is ranked very low considering he is undefeated, and just missed qualifying for nationals last season. Another wrestler to watch here is Gavin Nelson (Oregon Clay/Ohio Northern) who is a freshman this year after taking a year off. He took 3rd at state.
157- Not much ranking at 57, but Gross (Norwalk St. Paul/Mount Union) and Morgan (Cincinnati. Elder/ Ohio Northern) are two guys having good success. Look for 2x AA Dan Mirman (Medina Highland/John Carroll) to return 2nd semester at this weight.
165- David Shapiro (Beechwood/Baldwin Wallace) is an NCAA qualifier ranked #6 in the nation looking for his first AA honors. Also ranked is Tyler Hardke (Cincinnati. Elder/ John Carroll)
174- Tom McNulty (Parma Padua Franciscan/ John Carroll) has a low ranking at this weight. Also a dark horse is Myles Wright (Elyria/Heidelberg) who finished 4th in the region last season. Garrett Chase of BW is ranked #6 here, but is not from Ohio.
184- Ben Lebrun (Strongsville/Baldwin Wallace) is ranked at this weight and has had a solid career.
197 A.J. Kowal (Princeton/Stevens Institute) is ranked #6 at this weight. He has crushed everyone he has wrestled so far this season. I remember him at 112 as a freshman in hs! Tyler Maclellan (CVCA/Baldwin Wallace) is an OH State champ and is ranked at this weight class.
