Discussion Topic: Tavanello to....97?

I have no inside scoop. I know nothing. I'm sure it would be an hideous cut. BUT........
If Snyder returns at 285 for 16-17, does our guy Nick Tavanello drop the 50 bills and get to 197 for his last year? He's obviously excellent...and was a 220 his junior year in HS. It shelves Kollin Moore for one more year, but he would still have three seasons to kick A and takes names.
Thoughts?

hmmmmm...I was wondering this same thought about 3 years ago. But I think it may be out of reach now.

I guess anything is possible, but we're talking about a young man who hasn't been below 200 since before entering high school. He was third as a freshman 215...and while was never "cut down", he was also never "fat". I don't see it happening, and if it did, I'm not sure how successful he could be. First time cutting that kind of weight and the fact that 197-pounders are a quick and agile group these days.
It's a shame, because he's a good kid by all accounts and he's going to be right there to All American the next two seasons.

Honestly, I wasn't sure if Kyle Snyder might take a regular RS year next year and continue to build up to being a heavy. That would allow Tav to finish his career and allow Kyle to mostly focus on free for an additional year.
Obviously I have no inside info but this was something I thought was feasible.

I think he has the talent, work ethic and skills to be an All American the next two seasons. Whether he'll be on the mat next year is a different story.
I'm interested to see him against Cleveland State. Shaw is very good and will be a great barometer for where he is.
