Bucks won it without Hunter. Season hasn't even begun and we're having this sensationalized crap thrown at us. Boo. Bad job, Flo.

Please clarify you post. I'm not sure where you're heading with this but would like to know. Thanks in advance.
Justin: yes!

Would tOSU have been the prohibitive pre-season favorite if Snyder was in the line-up? (Maybe a "duh" question, I'm just not familiar with the other teams/points).

No is the short answer.
All of the rankings that I've seen for TOSU are pessimistic, reflecting the uncertainties, at 141 through 165. Snyder's presence wouldn't come close to making up the difference on Penn State and Oklahoma State in these preseason calculations.

I'm talking out my butt (maybe). Bear with me.
Let's use three assumptions:
1) Jack Rozema is better than we all thought.
2) Myles Martin is having a tough time making 174, and, in fact, may not be able to make it, effectively, and compete.
3) Kenny Courts is going to start at 184, regardless.
Does it maximize the scoring (again, assuming Myles does not make 174), to drop Bo Jordan to 165 and then drop ROZEMA to 174. We've seen this before with Coach Ryan (Picazo to 174 after Pucillo transferred)...we've also seen the development of "fringe" wrestlers into high end talent (Blake Kaplan), albeit under Coach Hellickson. Rozema, in his 3rd year in the program, might be able to handle the cut better than a freshman two months into college.
This would allow Myles Martin to stay up and redshirt, while possibly maximizing the points elsewhere. Rozema NQs and grabs a W, BoJo does what he does and Courts is locked at 184.
The perfect situation, for maximizing points, is:
165- Jordan
174- My Martin
184- Courts
IMO, the next best (based on those assumptions listed above) is:
165- Jordan
174- Rozema
184- Courts
Thoughts?

Redo here:
Looking at The Open Mat rankings, it would seem that a hypothetical first place ranking for Snyder would put them ever so slightly ahead of OKState and Penn St.

Bo Jordan became a father this morning. Congrats Bo!
I cannot imagine caring for a newborn during wrestling season. Each are plenty hard by themselves.

Not to mention being a student and a husband (not sure if he's married but he's engaged).
Congrats to Mom Ashley as well.

JDJ tweeted "my teammate is married and a dad and here I am barely making it to classes on time" Made me laugh. And yes, seems like they are married.

Do we have a clear understanding of the line-up yet?
If not, is there a "drop dead" date?

Yes, it's sometime in March. ;)
In all seriousness, I don't think much will be revealed until Hunter is back in the lineup. That seems to be the smart play when considering MyMar's RS, etc.

Everything that I have seen or read from Coach Tom is that Hunter is supposed to be ready at the first of the year, and I would expect all of the other major decisions to fall into place by then, so that we have our 'tournament team' in place to wrestle the bulk of the Big Ten season and get ready for the tournaments at the end of the season.
I haven't heard any official team announcements about major open tournaments, but I remember that in past years there was some discussion or intent to send some of the 'top level, borderline red-shirt' types to the Midlands to see how they do there against a quality D1 field. - I could see Myles, and KeShawn, and Kollin Moore, and Haines go this route to evaluate their progress. - If one of those guys could excel in that field, you know that they are approaching success at the D1 level.

Since you mentioned Midlands (which I'd love to see Ohio State enter in the future, by the way), David Taylor announced he'll be entering the field this year.
Who doesn't love watching him on the mat? The Grinch, that's who.

Curt is silly.
But I agree - D.T. is a monster. NF-4 could create short matches.
