Discussion Topic: Triv Question, another tuffy
Bob Preusse added to this discussion on September 8, 2015

my last one pretty tough, took awhile to name the 3 men who were # 1 seeds all 4 years in NCAA tourn. Reader Devin Dittrich finally got the 3rd guy along with Cael & Pat Smith --Tim Krieger of Iowa St late 1980s.

here's another good one, in 1988 the great state of Pennsylvania had an unbelievable 6 - SIX - div 1 NCAA champions, name them.

Without help from NCAA website or program or google.

Rules:
Each poster gets 6 picks only, AND u gotta post your 6 at once- no posting 4 them waiting to see more names before posting 2 more. Thats not fair.

This is tuff, unless u look it up i doubt anyone gets 6 out of 6, though several are famous names. By noon friday who has the most right is the winner, as usual MrB will provide mustard & relish to the winner.

Just to be clear - these six champions attended a PA school during their four years (or at any point) of their high school career, correct?

(Often times when calculating these types of things people begin reaching a bit - "Yeah but he wrestles for a PA college!")

Just making sure.

Ridiculously hard question because of the year specificity.

well of course my dear Hank do u think i would insult our savvy reader with anything less? ---

as i said i don't expect anyone to get all 6, 6 out of 6 -- however most correct picks wins, so 5 or even 4 out of 6 can win the thrill of having MrB's horseradish mustard slathered on their tongue.

several are very well known names so geting 4 is very doable, 5 even if theres another Deven Dittrich in the audience. Pros need only apply on this one. ---Consider this is your Final Jeopardy question.

thank you Jason. The only way to do this properly is for people to email answers privately.

Fun contest.

I'll give it a shot. Had a lot of wrestling talk with Jeff Dernlan, who wrestled at PSU, so I hope I can do him proud. 1988 was my freshman year in high school and I remember reading about the national tournaments during those years.

Sad thing is I'm not even sure all these guys won in that year.

Listing in order from most confident to least confident:

Jack Cuvo (beat Nix from MN who was a guy I watched wrestle many times for the Gophers and was totally bummed when he lost in finals).
Carlton Haselrig
Jim Martin
Rob Koll
Dan Mayo
Pat Santoro
Tim Krieger - cheating here adding a 7th name but since he was who I forgot in Bob's last trivia question - I'll add here just in case. :)

thats a very good effort Brady, not perfect but very good. U indeed are a "Heavyweight" in the triv game.

(your 7th guy Tim Krieger was from Iowa, i forget the high school but its a small town in Iowa.)

i now think not as tuff as Hank feared, a tribute to savvy readers--

closed noon Thursday, then if tied we will go to the UTB question, in effect one minute on feet then each reader chooses top or bottom 30 seconds-- figuratively of course, but it'll be a tough TB question related to 1988.
