Josh Moore, a two-time All-American and national runner-up who spent the last 11 seasons as an assistant coach at Kent State, has been named the head assistant wrestling coach at Cleveland State.

Wow. This is a surprise. Congrats to CSU on bringing aboard a very successful assistant. Wonder who Kent will bring in as a replacement?

I don't think it's a secret that CSU has needed help with recruiting. Moore strikes me as a potential solution to that problem.

Obviously great for Moore AND Cleveland State.

Makes me wonder if anything detrimental occurred at KSU due to the fact that I thought KSU has done well over the past decade. Perhaps last year was a bit of a dip in performance, but still, overall - nice growth for the Flashes.

Here's hoping CSU can make some immediate strides of improvement followed by consistent success.

It would help to set up a pipeline from Lakewood to snag some of the St. Ed's guys that aren't going to go to Ohio State. Keep some of the top Ohioans in-state as opposed to letting guys like Bright and Abounader get away. NE Ohio is a hotbed of talent and there are more great wrestlers than there are scholarships.

With all due respect to CSU, even if the wrestling programs could be made equal (unlikely) you are not getting a kid who values education to pass up on an academic institution like Michigan for Cleveland State in most instances (which is one of the reasons the former issue is unlikely). Maybe your point was more general, but the use of those names brings up this point.

I completely agree that CSU is not on par academically with U of M. To be completely honest, I don't want to see any kid from Ohio heading Up North.

CSU had some pretty decent success a few years back, largely on the back of some Ohio talent. Let's hope they're able to duplicate that soon.

CSU has had sporadic success over the years but has never been able to maintain it the way we've seen with a program like KSU. Moore could change that.

Here's my guess--Moore wanted to leave Kent and talked to Stehura. Stehura in turn went to his athletic department and told them Moore could really upgrade the program. I've gotta believe that CSU came up with some money to bring him on board. (CSU has been one of the least well funded programs in D1). Moore--and Pa native Garcia--should really help with the recruiting. Quality state placers from PA and Ohio on a consistent basis would be a big step up for the Vikings. If they just become a top 30-35 team it would be huge.

No, the Vikings won't land a Domenic Abounader. But guys like Edgar Bright could now be in play.

No guarantees yet. But for CSU, a team that was on the chopping block, this could be a huge step forward.

Moore leaving KSU is a huge loss to that program. Curious move to say the least.

Paging Mr. Brian Grimm - he usually has inside intel from Kent. This is a curious move to me, but a great one for CSU. A home run.

Kent State wrestling's Matt Hill has been promoted to associate head coach, as announced by Head Coach Jim Andrassy.

I wonder if the two are related/connected?

I'm going to guess that the promotion of Hill had "something" to do with it.

Given their respective dates of hire, Josh did have more seniority.

This is a big step for CSU, in and out of the room, in my opinion josh is at a very high level with regard to technique and will have an impact very quickly. as for move to promote hill over josh, surprised, and could see how that would impact a decision to move on, I have a personnel gut feeling as to why you would promote hill over josh, can't verify, and would be irresponsible to comment. how do the light weights feel about this. couldn't be happy, as josh would be a big reason for being at Kent. At this point the why may not matter, but kudos to coach stehura for reaching out and taking this step.
