Another top commitment tonight for the class of 2015. Now have the 1, 5, 12, 29 ranked seniors for 2015.
Zeke will have this program in contention in the next 3-4 years.
Very few sports left where a coach can have such an impact.

Similar to PSU when Cael arrived. Right guy in an attractive school. While ASU doesn't reside in a wrestling hotbed, it's near CA and in a prime position to compete for the most talented kids there and throughout the west. Not surprising at all that he's doing this well.
Gonna hurt Ohio State a bit since Ryan also likes to go after the very best.

What's really impressive is that besides the Valencias, Zeke nabbed top kids from PA and Minny.

Hank - was thinking the exact same thing, getting kids from PA and MN. I would guess in a typical recruiting cycle the number 12 kid in the nation from MN would be MN/IA/IaSt competition.
I love to see schools making wrestling important. ASU has made that choice.

Ethan: ASU has always had great alums with a willingness to write big checks. The issue was an uncaring AD who kept hiring sub par coaches. Finally, the alums and AD put it together and it's obvious a powerhouse has been re-created.

of course all coaches look good when first hired, only later does reality set in. After all Lee Roy Smith was one of those coaches fired at AZ st, i am sure he was met with optimism when first hired.
the Valencia's i can understand, those Cal kids don't have much to choose from close to home. However geting a 197 the caliber of Lance Benick away from the Minnesota Gophers is really impressive recruiting.

Re: ASU Coaches. Neither Charles nor Ortiz were able to ignite the program.
Zeke Jones is a "playa."

Bob: Wasn't LR Smith the head coach at ASU prior to Bobby Douglas? What happened under his watch?

Hank, let's see --BobbyD was at AZ state to coach Mollica and the St John bros, so he was there 1980s, early 90s, won a NCAA team title in 1988.
Lee Roy came to AZ state after BobbyD left for Iowa state, i recall talking to Lee Roy at Reno in the late 90s and at CSU NCAA's in 1998.
Lee Roy by all accounts was forced to resign. My point was ADs don't have crystal balls, yes some make dumb choices, we have witnessed that. i'm sure Tom Ortiz and Shawn Charles looked good at the time, however i don't recall who else was available then??
i agree Zeke Jones will return AZ st to premier status, he accumulated very good record at U of Penn before taking USAWR job. It appears the right guy was available this time and this AD hired him.
