When I run down the steps, I instinctively put my hands up, stance style. Going up the stairs, I envision myself hitting head outside singles (don't know why).

When somebody drops something and crouches to pick it up (no, not a baby or a grenade, Niemann, but a pen or phone), my first thought is either "near side" or "far side" cradle (depending on where I am positioned in reference to that person).

It took me 22 years to learn to sleep on my back...and I still wake up with a start about an hour into it.

Whenever I walk into an empty room, I promptly think, "What size mat/How many practice circles could we fit in here?"

My co-workers can't figure out why I prefer it blazing hot -with a space heater- in our office.

I believe I could take any non-wrestler down within the confines of an elevator.

Ha! Love it.

If I'm in a room with rows of folding chairs, 99 times out of 100, I envision hitting double legs on them. Gotta get low enough to get your shoulder below the seat-back.

When tying my laces on my everyday shoes, I see my Asics wrestling shoes.

If ever I touch someone, it's grabbing their elbow - and then I wait to see how they react.

Whenever anyone grabs for me, I'll isually cut them off by getting wrist control - thumb down, palm out.

I always keep my arms tight to my body when they're by my side...or I'm lifting them...so some phantom opponent doesn't have a lot of space to attack.

This is such an oustanding topic.

I can't pass a scale without weighing myself.

I tuck in my sweatshirts when I'm working out.

If anyone touches my head I post or pass the elbow.

When I shake hands with someone I wait for the ref to blow the whistle to start our match. I also find myself wanting to transition from the handshake to a Russian 2 on 1 tie.

I can't sleep on my back. I've tried. I've been told I need to by my chiropractor. I still can't. The closest I come is on my side (but not giving up back points).

Ethan: I NEVER voluntarily go near a scale anymore. Too much angst.

And a gross one: I spit excessively when I run, subconsciously I suppose cutting those few extra pounds before weigh-ins. Never did before I took up wrestling.

I can't do cardio without a sweatshirt and another layer underneath.

I sit in the sauna in full sweats.

I still say my weight with the decimal point in it.

When I'm at the gym and someone is struggling I sneer at them and say "You're a bleeder....you can't hold your mud!"

Typically they look at me strangely...

That part about not sleeping on your back is great!

That being said, I will give up back points to my wife if that's what it takes, otherwise, I agree :-D

Anyone have dreams about it being match day and you aren't sure if you are on weight?

Even 20+ years later?
