Discussion Topic: National champion Dustin Kilgore to take Olympic redshirt in 2012
Roe Fox added to this discussion on March 25, 2011

An article in today's Akron Beacon Journal (couldn't find it online to give a link) indicates he will take an Olympic redshirt next year. Anyone close to Kent State University have a better guess than I would have at the line-up his during his last year (2012-2013)?

Ian Miller would have at least one year of competition in depending on whether or not he redshirts. I think Bedelyon might still be there, maybe Barlow.

It might be quite the line-up.

This would be an interesting twist, since I was thinking KSU could be a real threat to break the top ten next season. Their line up returns intact aside from losing Cathell, who I believe could be replaced either by Miller or Shuster and you hardly miss a beat.

This year's junior class will be considered one of the best in Kent's history:

Bedelyon - AA
Clopton - solid contributor
Tice - 2X NQ
Kilgore - NC
Barlow - 2X NQ

With those five returning next season as seniors, they could be a top 10 team without a doubt.

As for 2012-2013, I'm not sure about the line up, but the staff will have to develop some of they younger kids in the room, and we know they are capable. The line up would include seniors Mitcheff, Skonieczny, Sasfy, Shuster, Witt, and Newburg, which is a good starting point.

Are we thinking 211? If so, is he building up to heavyweight as a senior?

He will make 185...remember that 184 was on the table for this past year until December....that is where Kilgore was certified.

I think he said he is going 96 kg. "Only bigger and stronger for me from here on out" or something to that effect.

Hrovat said before he went to Russia that he would be dropping back down to 84 kg. Not sure if that is still true or not.

If Lehmann comes to Ohio State, though, that would be 3 Ohio-ish guys at the same weight.
