Discussion Topic: Pick The Champs Point Totals--Prior to Finals
Hank Kornblut added to this discussion on March 18, 2011

Current totals--which were done hastily and will have to be re-checked as they may not be accurate--do not reflect possible max totals for a weight class. You got one point for picking one finalist and three points for choosing both. Tomorrow nights results will alter totals significantly.

Highest possible score was 30 (prior to finals). Current high score is 18. A few observations:
1) Most easily predictable wts proved to be 125, 149 and 157.
2) The upperwts were confounding.
3) No one picked both finalists at 174.

Your current leaders:

18pts--Gino Iacoboni and Sean Koran. Koran correctly chose the finalists at 197 and 285 which was unique among all participants.

17--Doug Brandt
16--Eddie Jayne, Josh Lowe, Mark Palumbo, Anthony Colestock, Bill Watson and Hank Kornblut.
15--Mark Neimann, Patrick Neimann, Wm Danforth
14--Jason Jackson
13--Ethan Moore, Steve Hrovat, John Robert Dula
12--Rex Holman, Brad Perkins, Antony Sharples
11--Brady Hiatt, Dennis McGrane
10--John Ice

Seven people were below ten.

My calculations have:

Christopher Sommers with 17 points.

I see you counted Bill Watson's Zach Rey (Cornell). :)

Me also -- anybody much much smarter than I know how to create a website with brackets that can be filled out like the basketball brackets on yahoo (or fill in the site)? Everybody could fill out the entire bracket online -- for all to see.

Next year I hope to have a 16-man bracket system developed to be used for districts and state. The beauty of the system is other players cannot see your picks until after the entry period ends and the scoring is done automatically.

Should not be to hard to modify it to work with thee 33 man brackets the NCAA uses.

I am actually in a bracket pool with a bunch of guys and then we get together for the finals tonight. I will speak to DJ Vondruska (who runs the pool) and maybe we can get more people involved with it next year if your interested.

Very interested. Where are you guys watching tonite? I watched the semis in my living room and discussed the action with my son. He was more interested in his Pokemon cards.

Haha Hank! I'm glad to see I am not the only one who has to suffer from this Pokemon phase.
