Please explain the OT rules to me, I thought someone had to score, but Russell from MI went to SV then top/bottom then SV top/bottom, then it said he won with :03 seconds of riding time? does it go to criteria after 2 OT's?

They look at the differential between each guys RT in OT to determine the winner. If that is tied, they go to the final UTB.

Is it just riding time in over time or does it carry over from the the match(1st 2nd and 3rd)? and UTB? ultimate tie braker? coin flip for top bottom?

Didn't Pucillo win his title over Varner this way?

Just from OT. The UTB I believe is just like HS final OT (ride and win, escape and win)but first Offensive point gets choice. If none, then coin flip.

Things may have changed since last year, but when I was in college overtime went first take down from your feet for a minute then 30 each guy. If no score the cycle starts over after the next set of thirty if there is still no winner it goes to riding time. If after that everything including riding time is the same it goes through the same cycle until someone scores more points or has more riding time.

College overtime works this way....
First,
Riding time is set to 0 for the overtime.
there is a 1 minute sudden victory period.
If no one scores, the match goes to 2, 30 second periods on the mat.
If the match is still tied,
there is another 1 min sudden victory period.
If no one scores again, the match goes to 2 more 30 second periods on the mat.
If the score is still tied, the wrestler with the most riding time in overtime wins the match. If the net riding time is +3 sec in favor of wrestler 1.... then wrestler 1 is the victor.
If the net riding time is 0 after the second set of 30 sec overtimes, then the match continues to another 1 min sudden victory. The match continues until a wrestler scores in the sudden victory period, has more points after the 30 sec periods, or has more net riding time.
This is how Pucillo won his national title. He had more net riding time than Varner.
I just read Tony Bradberry's post after I posted mine... He is correct.

Thank you for clearing that up. so the magic number is +:03 riding time. That is a nice way to keep the kid running the clock out of it. +:01 or +:02 could simply be a delay from the call to the table.

Mark,
I was just using the +3 as an example. If the wrestler has +1 sec of riding time. It's a win too.
