I have no idea what's going on in this thread. Pretty much par for the course, and as usual it won't stop me from posting.

AND, in case you didn't know, Ken Chertow is conducting his Peak Performance Camps this winter and spring to help you peak when it matters most!

Whew!!! That one made me laugh, right there. That was great!

Ben: Any chance you make it down to the state tournament!?

Indeed I will. I'll be seeing you at the Dip 'N Dots stand!

1. It is seed, not seat.

2. It's not a game, it's a match.

3. You don't play wrestling, you wrestle.

4. Vision Quest is legendary.

5. Person 1 says, "It is the state tournament, not the states tournament." Person 2 says, "There are multiple states, just like there are multiple quarterfinal matches, thus they are states and quarterfinals." Person 1 says, "Yes, but the tournament to which you are referring is singular, whereas the round has multiple quarterfinal matches, thus quarterfinals being plural."

----------

Mark,

2010 OHSAA Division 1 State Tournament at 125 pounds... Bracket Line #1 = Fairfield district tournament champion Jake Corrill (3rd place in 2009), Bracket Line #8 = Darby district tournament champion Jake McCombs (3rd place in 2009), Bracket Line #9 = Ashland district tournament champion Gus Sako (2nd place in 2009).

Great topic by the way.

Mildly disagree. There are three distinct state tournaments, they just happen to be held at the same time.

A caveat is in order, however:
For a wrestler and his coach it's "go to state".

For a fan it's "I'm going to states", which is a more efficient/abbreviated form of "I'm going to the state tournaments" (this phrase is not permitted--a perpetrator could even be sommersed--in New Jersey, California, and Indiana).

I love the irony that the Dip 'N Dots stand is the most well known place at the State Wrestling Tournament. Whom ever decided to place that stand was brilliant. When I'm at the Tourney hanging with the boys from my home town, I am always amused that Dip 'N Dots is the 1st place the guys want to hit when they are done wrestling. I remember so well in HS loading up on Combos after weighing in. Luckily, in college, I was able to wrestle in the glory days of weighing in a day before the meet...so a full blown meal happened after those weigh-ins. It's amazing how much weight you can put on in a day. It's good that that rule has changed now!

Now what would I want that for!?

Tell me, do you know if two wrestlers have ever entered the state tournament at the same weight class, as district champs AND returning top 3 in the OHSAA state tournament?"

Yes they have. Last season Phillips and Utley is the first the came to my mind but there are plenty of others as well.

Since we are posting a potpourri of items on here, when reading Gary's post posing the quesiton of do you need Maize and Blue blood, I thought of an age old question, how do you keep a Michigan fan from drowning?

This is edited for Buckeye nation from the question how do you keep an Iowa fan from drowing that was asked many times in my youth while in MN.

Sure, but it won't change the answer.

I think three in 2003 DII, 171lbs. Joe Dennis, 2002 171lb Runner Up, Jason Hackett, 2002 171 Champ, Chris Hahn, 2002 160 Champ. This class also had Ryan Knapp, 160 Runner Up but he lost to Hackett in the District Finals.
