Without Ohioans on their team they really would have been embarrassed!

Iowa was relentless, as expected, but they made Penn State look out of shape. Even in the matches Penn State won, they looked like they were sucking wind. Got to give Brands and the team alot of credit.

Well, having Marion back in the lineup certainly changes things on a national level.
I would venture to guess that PSU will do some adjusting though - watching them in other matches this year, they have never seemed to "gas" as badly as they did here, which leads me to believe that nerves may have played a role as much as or more so than conditioning...
Not that Iowa is loaded with upperclassmen, but 5 frosh and 3 soph in a dual meet of that caliber, with that many people, on your home turf, etc etc...thats a pretty big stage to perform on...
Certainly makes the rest of the year interesting!!!

For me, the scene that typified Iowa wrestling, and this season, was between 125 and 133.
The freshman Ramos ran to the center of the mat, got in a stance, and stared blankly at the PSU corner, awaiting the returning national runner-up Long. Ramos looked so ready and so confident, you could sense an upset in the making.
Iowa took it right to PSU, and this Nittany Lion team is the real deal.
Many fans have pointed to Iowa missing the National Duals as a sign of weakness, implying that Brands and Iowa would duck competition. I don't think those dudes would ever duck a challenge, but instead were doing what they felt necessary to prepare their team for another title run.
Even in defeat I was impressed, an example being the smaller Ballweg bumping up and not getting majored by the 2X AA Molinaro.
This has the making of a very fun rivalry.

Iowa is super-young as well. They're not exactly seasoned vets. And remember they loaded up in recruiting this year with kids like Dziewa, Evans, Telford, et al.
I read that Telford in his redshirt year has a win over NCAA DII champion Elijah Madison -- Madison being a wrestler that was involved in a long-standing rivalry with Dom Bradley during his prep career.
