Wt. Name IM AWN WIN D1CW
125 Sean Boyle NR NR 20 NR
133 Zac Stevens NR 17 NR 21
141 Kellen Russell 1 1 1 1
149 Eric Grajales NR 10 NR 23
157 Brandon Zeerip 19 NR 19 22
165 Dan Yates 19 19 19 19
174 Justin Zeerip NR NR NR 20
184 Hunter Collins NR NR NR NR
197 Anthony Biondo 13 10 14 12
285 Ben Apland 8 12 8 8

Michigan favored in most matches, but not huge favorites in some. It would take a couple of upsets, but this could be close.

Interesting that there is this much of a difference in opinion of ranking on Grajales. I don't care about rankings...just thought it was interesting.

I agree, this will be a better match to watch than the last one. Hopefully, whomever is in the line-up will put last week behind them and be ready to show some steps of improvement this week.

My thoughts

125 Bo Touris v. Sean Boyle - Boyle wins, probably with bonus.

133 Ian Paddock v. Zac Stevens - Paddock has to have this, and I think he picks up the decision.

141 Randy Languis v. Kellen Russell - Russell doesn't generally score big, but, knowing it could matter, I see a major.

149 Mike Fee v. Eric Grajales - I will be happy if Fee doesn't get pinned.

157 Sean Nemec v. Brandon Zeerip - I see bonus points for tsun again.

165 Colt Sponseller v. Dan Yates - Sponseller could get bonus here.

174 Nick Heflin v. Justin Zeerip - If Heflin shoots consistently, he could open this up, but I see an OT win for the Bucks.

184 Cody Magrum v. Hunter Collins - I have trouble getting behind Magrum, he never seems to step up, but, if the Bucks want to have a shot to keep this close, he has to win.

197 Peter Capone v. Anthony Biondo - I think Capone keeps it close, but Biondo is too strong.

285 Zach Stolarsky v. Ben Apland - Decision, at least, for tsun.

Overall, I have it 6-4 for tsun. The problem is that they could/should get bonus in 3-4 of those, so 1 upset won't do it, it would probably take 2.

I think I'll be there, wearing my Scarlet in support, and cheering wildly. Would be nice to sweep both schools from that state up north, but I'm not counting on it.

James: Nice analysis.

For some reason I think Nemec steps it up and has a good win against a ranked wrestler. Of course, I have absolutely no data to back it up except that if it isn't this match, it isn't going to happen this year I don't think. If he wants any chance of getting a spot at NCAAs, it has to start now with some quality wins then a good showing at the B10s.

Also, does everyone sense Gary lurking out there? He's been quiet. Can we shut the forum down over the weekend if the Buckeyes don't pull out the upset?

Interesting to me that with all the gut-wrenching thread concerning OSU/Ryan's recruiting 'failures', etc this year, that Eric Grajales, a super-stud HS #1 recruit, has yet to make much of a mark collegiately. He's not a freshman, is he?

Grajales is a redshirt frosh. He spent last year trying to make the cut to 133, and then certified there this year. However, he couldn't maintain the weight, and with national #1 Kellen Russell at 141, he had to bump to 149.

He started the year terribly, but has gotten better. I think he will eventually settle into a quality wrestler, no AA this year, but could challenge next year.

Jason,
Got love your blind loyalty.
I see things just a bit different

125- Touris v. Boyle
Boyle has been inconsistent but should do the job. UM WBD (0-3 UM)
133- Paddock v. Stevens
Paddock has been solid and get the victory. OSU WBD (3-3 T)
141- Languis v. Russell
Languis has two chances to keep this close slim and none. UM WBF (3-9 UM)
149- Fee v. Grajales
Grajales has been on a roll. UM WBM (3-12 UM)
157- Nemec v. B. Zeerip
Nemec needs to step up but Zeerip has been hot also Zeerip is favored. UM WBD (3-15 UM)
165- Sponseller v. Yates
Sponseller needs another good effort to get a win here. Spons in a close match. OSU WBD (6-15 UM)
174- Helfin v. Zeerip
Helfin has been solid and has already gotten past Zeerip once this year (5-1). OSU WBD (9-15 UM)
184- Magrum v. Collins
Collins in a close one. UM WBD (9-18 UM)
197- Capone v. Biondo
Biondo may put up bonus points. UM WBD (9-21 UM)
285- Stolarsky v. Apland
Apland is ranked #8 for a reason, and he shows Zach why UM WBM (9-25 UM)

The only difference in your projection from mine is that you call a "close one" to Hunter Collins and I give the match to Magrum. Where is the "blind loyalty"?

Well it looked like you had:
Stolarsky over Apland....not gonna happen
Nemec w/bonus over B. Zeerip...I got it different
These two and Collins would make it much different.

I think tOSU will be looking to bounce back after the beating Iowa put on them. Anything within 10 pts. would be better than expectations.

Michigan has been wrestling well as of late.

As a side note....it looks like I might just be blind....hehehe

I'm pretty sure he has Zeerip with a dec over Nemec and Apland with a major over Stolarsky. Not sure what you were looking at.

If TOSU isn't within 10 points it's an unmitigated disaster.

And yes Gary I am thinking of you for all the right reasons. . .the unexpected beat down of Meeeeechigan.
