I would have expected a bigger margin of victory for Logan. Tyler Iwamura redshirted last year and here is the score of his previous match.
125: No. 17 Ryan Mango (STAN) md. Tyler Iwamura (CSUB), 18–8

Yeah Matt I was quite surprised but such a small margin of victory for Logan.

Word is that Stieber has a problem with his back and almost didn't make the trip. I don't know how true that is. It's just being posted elswhere.

So far only 1 loss on the day for the buckeyes. Randall Languis loses to a very formidable Borislav Novachkov.
Logan ends up winning 2nd match against Logan Arlis from Illinois 9-0

Matt - those brackets aren't up to date. Paddock, Kusar, Nemec, Capone, Jontony, and Hiles lost as well. Just a heads up, you can see results either on InterMat's live blog or TheOpenMat.com.

I am suprised by Paddock losing to Futrell.

If you read my article this week, it's obvious that I'm surprised at Paddock's loss, too.
On the other hand, that's got to say something about how good BJ Futrell must have gotten in his redshirt year. beating Paddock by 4-5 points is very impressive.

Also, Nick Heflin has a very nice win over Luke Manuel (Purdue). Manuel is ranked "only" 13 right now, but I believe he was as ranked high as 3rd last year because he spent most of the year undefeated.

For a "down" year not bad, especially without everyone in the line-up.
Nemec lost to a top-ranked guy in Chamberlain. I would never have anticiapted that being a win for Nemec.
Sponseller pinned his opponent.
Kusar wrestled some matches at 149 last year, if I recall correctly. We just don't have a true 165. He is a tough kid but with Demas and Garcia competing for the spot next year we should be good to go.
Heflin with a HUGE win over Manuel. It looks like he faces a tougher challenge in Bennett his next match, if I read the bracket correctly.
For those who thought Logan Stieber's win by one in his first match was too close against a kid from Cal-Poly, Bubba Jenkins, former finalist, just beat some kid I never heard of from North Dakota State 4-3. It is early in the year and Stieber is still a freshman who romped in his second match.
I agree with most who think Magrum is wrestling too high. If he went down who goes 197 and does better?
Hiles is an enigma. I expected much better. He has the talent.

Hiles out of the tourny after losing to the 7 and 8 seeds. I don't think anyone would have expected him to beat those two. He lost to two top ten ranked guys two weeks ago. let's see what happens over the long haul. I'm hoping to see him be at least competitive. whether or not he's our heavy for the next few years, I think is to early to tell either way.
