BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech wrestling program wraped up its preseason wrestle-offs Saturday as the Hokies continue to prepare for the big season-opening weekend. Tech will take on Iowa State on Saturday, Nov. 6 and then will host the third Hokie Open the following day. Both events will be at the Salem Civic Center.
The results of the wrestle-offs will be used to help determine the depth chart for the Hokies.

Early indication is that Dong may "sit" this year since he hasn't sat year - and the nationally ranked Yates sat last year due to injury ... and they got a credible starter at 165 in Epperly.
Mitch will probably also redshirt, then again with Garnett there that's an easy one. Hightower is caught up in the Yates/Dong/Epperly group at 157/165.
Got some good depth on the V-Tech roster.

Hightower needs a redshirt- especially if they want him at 165. He has the frame but needs time to put on some bulk. Ironically, the guy who beat him, Chris Moon, lost in the Ironman qfs to Hightower's US drill partner Brad Wukie.
