Discussion Topic: Will McCauley Become a Buckeye?

[quote="Dan Ransick"]I would love tg know what the percentage of JUCO studs actually pan out on the DI level. It's such a crap shoot for them to even qualify yet alone even take the mat.

If Fortune comes here great but I never held my breath as like Bob said it was far from a lock for him to come here.

If McCauley comes does that make him the biggest out of state recruit to come here? I would imagine it does, doesn't it.[/quot

In recent memory Blake Maurer, Reece Humphrey and Triggas were big time out of state recruits. I don't know what kind of recruit Mitch Clark was coming out but he was an out of stater who obviously did okay for the Bucks.

McCauley is considered by some to be the #1 recruit in the country so he'd arguably be the biggest out of stater to come to Columbus.

McCauley reminds me of Eric Tannenbaum. He's very quick and exceptionally smooth on his feet. Tannenbaum was a 4x AA so one can only hope McCauley proves to be that level if he comes to Ohio State.

Capone, Palmer, Hiles, Magrum are looking good so far.

Nemec + Colt are down to weight.

Stieber looks tough.

Paddock has improved.

team is unproven but theres going to be some hilites i think.

And IF 2 of the 3, Courts & McCauley & McIntosh make announcement for buckeyes, then theres plenty of reason to smile. s/BobP

Great news to hear Palmer is wrestling. Had heard he might not be on the team this season. He could be a huge positive for the Buckeyes.

Has anyone been able to look at discussion on intermatwrestle.com. I saw the other day where there talking about matchups this upcoming season. First matchup there talking about is Mcdonough vs Stieber. Wondering if anyone been able to read it? And what it has to say? Also real good to hear Palmer in room as well as others doing well.

I'm still interested in seeing what the wrestle-offs will look like. We are having them this year, right? I'd like to see just what's going on with 125 and how the various wrestlers look like at their new weights.

Is exploring a major or is that another term for undeclared?

Exploring is how Ohio State likes to say "undecided" that's what it was when I was there a few years ago at least.

Guessing at the lineup:
125: Stieber (Triggas redshirts then finishes next year while Logan takes olympic redshirt)
133: Paddock
141: Collin Palmer
149: Sean Nemec
157: Sponseller
165: Jameson
174: Heflin
184: Capone
197: Magrum
285: Hiles

Supposedly that lineup would be young and green but it would feature three 4x state champs, three 3x state champs, a 2x champ, a 2x finalist. Hard to imagine a more talented lineup from a recruiting point of view. If this is down, what's up?

Key to me would be the return of a healthy, motivated Collin Palmer. Many of us wondered if his career might never get in gear. But C. Palmer remains one of the great recruits in Buckeye history and has huge potential.

Consider that they're going to add Garcia, H. Stieber, Tessari and DiJulius next season...plus they're hot on the trail of some other major talents. Man, that will be a loaded room.

Might it also stand for "athlete primarily here to play sports"?
