Ohio University projected line up,

125- Gabe Ramos- will be a National Qualifier, look for big things out of this kid.

133- Jake Wojcik, should be a consistent winner

141- Germane Lindsey- returning All American

149- Darrin Boing, should be a consistent winner

157- Kyle Lang/ ?, high school all american, should be a consistent winner

165- Steve Wilson or Kyle Lang

174- Nick Purdue- returning national qualifier with some wins over all americans last year. look for him to be an all american candidate.

184- Ryan Garringer- high school all american, has shown some promise and should be a consistent winner

197- Erik Shuth- returning national qualifier, look for him to be an all american candidate.

285- Hartshorn/Johnson- Johnson coming off 5th place finish in the junior worlds and Hartshorn being a consistent winner should be a solid wrestle off, either way I see a national qualifier at this weight.

This team should have it's goals on having at least 5 national qualifiers and 3 All Americans and a top 15 team placement at the NCAA's

A couple OU thoughts/questions.

1. I don't know much about Wojcik. Anyone in the know have info? Did he have a good summer?

2. Garringer trained at OverTime this summer, I believe, with Jake Herbert. OverTime is a great club in Naperville, IL.

3. Any chance Squire wrestled 49 or 57?

4. Ramos - had a good ending to his season last year. Any progress?

A couple of Kent quesitons for those in the know:

1. Is this line up pretty locked in stone, or is there competition at different weights?

2. With the log jam at 25, does Bedolyn go up? For dual meets this may be the way to go since Opfer is a good option at 25.

3. Does Newberg crack the line up? His results last year were impressive.

long season perhaps for ohio st u, over half the team unproven and no returning AAs. i guess we will see how good the coaching there is?

that's all true and obviously some of the losses can't be straight-up filled, but there is sooo much talent in that room --particurly by the second half of the season when guys have settled into weights and youngsters are not as young--that I'm looking at a 'surprise' high finish at NCAAs.

I agree that we'll see how good the coaching is, and it's pretty sweet. Losing Joe hurts, but adding two NCAA champs to the staff helps and will give a lot of guys the confidence that "I can do this".

it'll be a fun year.

a Ohio st team "surprise" would be welcome but probably wont occur. Will have to settle for a couple individual surprises i hope. Fortune wont be here this winter, btw. ----Kent probably the better team this season, imo. The 2 should be dualing.

Aren't you forgetting Nikko Triggas? Unless the decision to redshirt him has gone through?

Bob, What happened to Fortune?

not forgetting Triggas, but he has to beat out Logan Stieber or Paddock to get in lineup this season. Still an unproven lineup with or without Triggas.

Stieber/Triggas, Paddock, Palmer, Nemec, Sponseller, Demas, Heflin, Capone, Magrum, Hiles ---mostly unproven, one returning AA Triggas, i misspoke previously when i said none-- but it equals a tough season for the team.

Fortune has academic work he needs to accomplish before he can be admitted to Ohio St, that was always the case. I don't know- and couldnt discuss if i did know- when and if he will accomplish that work. But it was never "a done deal". s/BobP

There's been a lot of rumors about Palmer about some sort of back injury, maybe someone could actually confirm anything.

surprise - defined:

I think that 4 AAs is highly-doable...which should put tOSU around the top 5. Based on general public perception, that would count as a surprise.

-Triggas - already proved he can, so whether it's him or if Stieber wins out, eitherway an AA is realistic
-Paddock - has the skill and more importantly grit to make it back through the wrestle-backs
-Sponseller - by the time he's settled into 157 (size and style/opponents) he'll be high on the podium

-that leaves one spot for Nemec (needs to stay healthy and handle 49) Jameson (small 65 but always has a puncher's chance), Magrum (we'll see where he ends up weight-wise) and/or my pick would be Heflin to pick up one more AA for the Bucks.

i think that's reasonable. (personal bias acknowledged)

Grant: I'm with you.

I'm not selling out Hiles or Magrum, either. Weaker weights and some solid potential in those guys. The other guys you mention as AA's are real possibilities. That's why they wrestle.

Bob: your info on Fortune is certain?
