I'm excited to see Lance in MMA. He's very powerful and very tough. I can see him becoming a dominant choke-out artist. Only question will be his ability as a striker.

Hank, another queston will be his ability to take strikes.

Agreed...
But if you watch Ben Askren--who arguably has the same issue--he just wrestles so well during his matches that he's constantly on the ground where his advantage is unsurpassed.
I think Palmer has similar possibilities. He'll need to figure out how to quickly get his opponents down in order to take advantage of ground game dominance. I also think he's so powerful that his ability to quickly submit an opponent is significant. Obviously, he can choke. But other submissions as well.
Maybe it's wishful thinking but I think Lance can be very tough in MMA as long as he remains at a lower weight class. If he goes up too high, he'll run the risk of getting his lights punched out.

Lance isn't a guy I think will have trouble taking punches, but I guess it's one of those things you never know until you see them. I've always thought he was just very tough based on his grinding wrestling style and the fact that he never really missed any time to injury in his college career. Even so, you never know until you see him.

Exactly, Ben. On what basis can anyone say now that he can take a punch?
"grinding wrestling" is VERY different than taking a straight right to the mouth.

Although it still gives no hint as to whether or not he can take a punch, I read somewhere (sorry, can't find a link) that Palmer has dabbled in boxing a bit, indicating to me that he he is at least comfortable with the idea of getting punched in the face and has some experience in that realm.
Kind of interesting that he will be training at the same camp as Chad Mendes, NCAA Runner-up to OSU's J. Jaggers.
