Joe Boardwine added to this discussion on May 12, 2010

Ohio State NCAA Champion Mike Pucillo will conduct a clinic and workout at the Walsh Jesuit wrestling room in Cuyahoga Falls on Monday, May 17th from 6:30-8pm.

There is no cost for the clinic and workout. It is designed for experienced wrestlers of all ages.

He will cover his “best-in-the-business” Front Head-Lock series and other key techniques he used to be one of the most dominant upper-weights in the nation.

Space is limited. If you have an interest in attending, please contact Coach Joe Boardwine at joseph.boardwine@gmail.com with your grade, weight and years of wrestling experience to plan accordingly.

Walsh Jesuit is located at 4550 Wyoga Lake Road, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. 44224

A 2005 graduate of Walsh Jesuit, Pucillo was a 4x State Place-winner and 3x State Finalists for the Warriors.

He was a 2005 State Champion and High School National Champion at 189 lbs; Ironman Tournament Champion and also won the Beast of the East Tournament – where he was named Outstanding Wrestler.

A recent graduate of the Ohio State University, Mike was the 184 lb. NCAA Champion and a 2x NCAA National Finalist for coach Tom Ryan and the Buckeyes.

Pucillo won the NCAA Championships over eventual World Team member, Jake Varner (Iowa State) and was a 3x All-American in his career. See the article below to learn more about Mike Pucillo and his plans to be involved with the Ohio Regional Training Center (ORTC):

If this is anything like his clinic at (Lewis Center) Olentangy and (from what I hear) Olentangy Orange, it is WELL WORTH THE TRIP!!!!!!!

I will do my best to get some clips form the LC Olentangy clinic uploaded to youtube. Very methodical and flowing in his approach and extrememly concise in his delivery.

I'll only post a clip or two as to (hopefully) whet the appetite. (As is Mike P. needed any help.)

Sounds good... thanks Mark.

I think he will do really, really well. There are some guys who are able to achieve a high level of success as competitors but aren't all that passionate about teaching the sport to someone else and walking alongside them in their own quest for success. I think that's what makes someone a great coach, mentor or teacher of the sport. You have to really enjoy taking a back seat and helping someone else live their dreams. In talking to Mike - that's where he is at.

Mike is really excited about helping wrestlers develop their own skills and reach their potential.

Tomorrow night at 6:30 pm. Plenty of space - just show up at Walsh (4550 Wyoga Lake Road, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio)

This is a great opportunity for the prototypical high school wrestler to learn from someone who has been there and done exactly what they are trying to achieve: He started as a youth wrestler, then a hard-working middle schooler and then had a goal to become a high school state champion. It took him until his senior year to achieve this. So there was some struggle there that you can learn from.

Many high schoolers are interested in wrestling college - but aren't sure if they've got what it takes to beat the very best from Iowa, Iowa State, etc.. and win the NCAA's. How do you get there? A lot of great Ohio wrestlers do not make it.

Mike will share all of this and his successful journey through it with you.
