...as Tyrell Fortune commits to tOSU.

It's a great situation for both parties. Ohio State addresses a need with an immediate-impact guy. Tyrell gets a great training situation with Rowlands, Bergman, and Dlagnev as potentials partners. Not to mention he's a freestyler.

Well it certainly looks like the training center is beginning to pay off dividends with attracting recruits to Ohio State. I'm very curious to see how things will shake out at heavyweight for the Buckeyes.

Wow, this is a big get for Coach Ryan.

Just curious - were the Buckeyes not relying on Hiles to take the job at heavy? He seemed like the man in waiting.

I can only guess they needed to create a comeptitive environment and depth at that weight class.

Hiles hasnt taken the job yet so they are bringing in a BIG gun--- ive watched Fortune in Fargo, he is a man among boyz, one of the best high school upperwts over the past 20 years, possibly in a class with the likes of Rowlands, Mocco, Kole Conrad. Possibly.

i hope he complete his academic work and shows up here in December, would be an enormous boost. Enormous.

(one clarification from the article, Oregon is a traditonal wrestling state-- Oregon St has a strong history, and though not densely populated Oregon high school wrestling is very good.) s/BobP

It appears that Nick Heflin could emerge a superstar if he is able to manage the complexities of college wrestling.

His results, DI physique, and rumblings about him being the real deal lead me to believe that he is on the path to being exceptional.

This looks like a great pick up. Is he a title contender? The only returning AA are Trice 8th and Rey 3rd. I know we are long long way off but he could be contender.

Check this kid out on the junior college National Championships videos. He's not afraid to go upper and throw guys. As dangerous as Berman was. What great news for the Bucs.

Fortune is a projected 285 with three years left on his clock (three to compete three).

He competed his first year out of high school, "sitting" this past one.

Fortune will be a smaller 285, more in the 230-240 range.

Doesn't seem like John Hiles has set the world on fire, and one would think that Fortune is being brought in with hopes of being an upgrade at the weight class.

The article indicates that Fortune will not be around until winter quarter though.

Fortune must complete his academic work at Clackamas community college or he cant be admitted to Ohio St. So in a way, its like Derek Garcia, in that Ohio st doesnt really have either yet--- it is expected Ohio st will have them both, but it hasnt happened yet. In one case Garcia must re-sign, and in the other Fortune must graduate.

let's not mince words, the buckeyes are looking for a heavyweight. And Fortune is expected to be more than a mere "upgrade" if he joins the buckeyes.

There is actually a chance this kid won't graduate from a JUCO? If so, how will he ever maintain eligibility at Ohio State?

Give me a break, Gary is asking a legitimite question. Don't get so sensitive, and don't hate because some people aren't devout OSU fans.

Back on topic, seems like a great pick up for OSU!
