Discussion Topic: Any word on the status of Reece Humphrey's health?
Mike Taylor added to this discussion on February 16, 2010

I remember reading Reece was on crutches Sunday night. Any word on him and his availability against Iowa? Big Tens?

I was watching Ryan's post match interview and Kevin S. asked him about Reece and he said he got banged up over the weekend (I presume against Prater) and that if Reece feels he can go against Iowa he will, so that sounded encouraging. I hope they agree to start at 157 and save 149 for the finale, that way if the match is out of reach they could hold Reece out. I would hate to see him aggravate something this close to Big Tens.

Everyone would like to see Ohio State do well against Iowa but the bigger picture is the NCAA Tourney. Reece Humphrey has a realistic shot to win a national title. In my opinion that's bigger than a dual with Iowa--even for the Big Ten title. Even if the crutches were precautionary, no way Hump should go until Big Tens.

I'll defer to their judgement, but I tend to agree. It would be great to beat Iowa and win the Big 10 dual title, but if there's a risk of aggrevating the injury at all, I don't think it's a good idea to start him. Even if he would be 100% by Big 10s, it's like Tom Ryan said about Pucillo--he needs to be able to train hard for the postseason.

I hear it was a back issue w/ Reece. Also, I have heard rumors Pucillo has been dealing w/ mono and is now getting over it. Any truth to that?

I have no idea if it's true, but it would explain a lot about his season.

I have no idea...but that's why no one should ever listen to me. I haven't a clue.
