With this dual less than two weeks away, I feel it is relevant and exciting to have some conversation.
Projected Lineups
125 pounds
KSU: Troy Opfer, 15-14, Sophomore
OU: Gabe Ramos, 7-4, Redshirt Freshman; Kyle Ciccarello, 6-8, Redshirt Freshman
Opfer beat Ciccarello 2-0. Ramos has been starting recently. Slight edge to Kent State.
133 pounds
KSU: #9 Dan Mitcheff, 25-2, Redshirt Senior
OU: #26 Quentin Keyes, 16-10, Redshirt Junior
Mitcheff is the favorite, a major is possible. Edge to Kent State.
141 pounds
KSU: Chase Skonieczny, 17-13, Redshirt Freshman
OU: #15 Germane Lindsey, 19-4, Junior
Lindsey is wrestling well. Skonieczny is a future star. Edge to OU.
149 pounds
KSU: Matt Cathell, 5-1, Junior; Tom Sasfy, 11-17, Freshman
OU: #29 Seth Morton, 19-6, Senior
This will depend on who wrestles. Sasfy has been going as of late and Morton owns win over Sasfy. Edge to OU unless Cathell is back.
157 pounds
KSU: #31 Mallie Shuster, 20-10, Redshirt Freshman
OU: Clay Tucker, 19-12, Redshirt Senior
Shuster beat Tucker 2-0 earlier this year. Edge to Kent State.
165 pounds
KSU: Ross Tice, 22-8, Redshirt Sophomore; Obie Simpson, 16-11, Redshirt Senior
OU: Kevin Christensen, 12-12, Senior
Christensen beat Simpson 9-8 but I think Tice is the starter. Slight edge to Kent State.
174 pounds
KSU: #32 Keith Witt, 20-9, Redshirt Freshman
OU: #25 Jake Ison, 16-4, Redshirt Senior
Toss-up match. Ison would seem like a clear favorite but Witt is legit. Slight edge to OU.
184 pounds
KSU: #4 Dustin Kilgore, 25-1, Redshirt Sophomore
OU: #19 Nick Purdue, 23-8, Redshirt Sophomore
Kilgore majored Purdue at the Scuffle. Edge to Kent State.
197 pounds
KSU: #27 Adam Cogar, 16-6, Redshirt Freshman
OU: #10 Erik Schuth, 20-3, Junior
Schuth lost today but other than that has been lights out. Edge to OU.
285 pounds
KSU: #21 Brendan Barlow, 28-6, Redshirt Sophomore
OU: Andy Hartshorn, 20-9, Redshirt Sophomore
Barlow beat Hartshorn 6-2 earlier in the season. Edge to Kent State.
Going off projections, I would say it looks like Kent State will be favored 6-4 in matches. Should be a very competitive dual and great excitement for Ohio wrestling fans.

Bumping this with the dual 4 days away. Cogar beat Hamel this weekend in OT, who beat Schuth in OT two weeks ago. Great win for Cogar.
I am excited to say that it's my wife's birthday, so I will not get to watch it on line. She has also said that I am not allowed to check my phone at dinner for results, but trust me that I will find a way to make that happen.

Congrats to Kent. I wasn't there, but I am told the atmosphere was unreal and the wrestling matched the surroundings.
This should be a night that we are proud to be Ohio wrestling fans. This was the dual of the yeat in the state.
Joe T has to to be the star, winning against OU's starter.
I had the dual at 6-4 Kent, turned out to be 5-5. Keyes being out may have been the difference. What can you say, though? Mitcheff is a stud.
The star of the night for OU was Ramos. Where did this kid come from? Sounds like a resounding win.
Again, congrats to Kent. As an OU fan I am disappointed in the result but am proud of such a great dual. Both teams should be well represented in Omaha.

Great atmosphere. I love seeing this dual being so intense once again. Greenlee and staff did a good job of creating such a great atmosphere for this dual to happen in. Good luck to both teams in the postseason.

A stat that is very revealing of the success of these coaching staffs:
Total High School State Titles for KSU's starters: 5
Total High School State Titles for OU's starters: 4

OU loses two that they should of one 157 and heavywight. The good thing is that next year lang and johnson will make this team a lot stronger at these two weights. OU is still one year away from contending for the MAC title. I think they will make some noise this year though. Loved to see the intensity and fan support.
