How much does it hurt the cause that within the world of higher education CSU is just not a very good school with a far less than desirable "campus" located in a pretty dead downtown?
I understand that perhaps not every wrestler is looking for all or even any of those, but to me, my children, or any of our friends past or present which is really all I can relate to it was never a destination school.

Quote from Hank Kornblut's post:
|
"When KSU hired Andrassy rather than a more experienced "name" coach, I thought the move reflected a lack of committment by the AD. Perhaps it did...
But we all see how well that turned out.
I hope the CSU situation proves similar. We'll see."

In Ohio I think he was a much bigger name than you give hm credit for. Everyone who followed wrestling knew his accomplishments, especially north of Columbus.
I am with those who wish Stehura well (and I know you are one of them Hank). I had never heard of him until he received the CSU job. He needs a little more time.

as Tom Borrelli pointed out to me once, wrestling is unusual in that the "STARS" coach after their wrestling careers are over. Theres no MLB, NFL, NHL or NBA to go to. ---Borrelli was observing his good fortune as an average wrestler to have a Div I head college job.
i don't know enough about Ben Stehura to predict how much if any success he will have here. But he is committed and intelligent and has a plan, i came away with that impresion.
And CSU is nicer now and in the near future than i realized. Its the right place for some kids. Tuition is inexpensive, theres value there. And after all there are only 82 Div I wrestling colleges left, only 82 !! There is opporunity at CSU for the right kids. s/BobP

worth a one time BUMP in light of recent CSU verbal from a Massachusetts kid---- as coach Ben Stehura and asst Anthony Coleman told me right now because of perception it easier for them to recruit out of state. Hope that changes, i heard & saw some good things when i visited.... but they need to win some next year. s/BobP

If CSU needs a 197, how about the 189 lb state champ from Centerville, Nick Miller?
