Some results from Mat Town- a couple of Ohio guys and just some interesting points.
141- Andrew Alton wins this weight in a very impressive fashion. In the first round, Josh Kindig was beaten 8-0 by Nick Nelson of UVA. Nelson was 4th at the 2006 Ironman in the weight where Shawn Harris knocked off undefeated AWN #1 Zack Kemmerer. Nelson lost to Kemmerer in the 3rd place match. Kindig we know is a stud, but Nelson is just too good for him apparently.
However, Andrew Alton then beat Nelson 5-3. Very, very impressive. Nelson wrestled back to place third.
149- Who is Matthew Mariacher? He beat some studs here. Looking up, he was 18-11 as a sophomore last year- best win was Tyler Nauman or Andrae Hernandez. He won with a tech fall in the first round, pinned HS sophomore Jason Luster in the second round, beat Shawn Harris 3-2 in the semis, and then beat James English of PSU in the finals- fine tournament.
Harris also wrestled well. He teched a Bloomsburg wrestler in the first round and pinned Lowman of ODU in the first period of the second round before losing to Mariacher. He then lost to Dylan Alton 8-6 in the consi semis- a huge win for Alton.
Dylan Alton was beaten by James English of PSU, wrestled back to the third place match including the win over Harris, and then lost to John Nicholson of ODU. This was a good win for Nicholson- a freshman 2x Iowa state champ. He is the younger brother of 125 AA John Nicholson.
Luster is just amazing. He had a win in the first round- was stuck by Mariacher in the second round, then went 8-7 to Nicholson. He is only a sophomore in high school.
157-
David Taylor massacred this tournament. He won by scores of 17-0, 17-2, F 2:14, and 18-2. Three techs and a pin. There were no "names" here, but in the finals he beat Joey Sheridan, a 3x Oklahoma state champ at 160 who now wrestles for ODU.
165-
Bubba Jenkins is at another new weight. He made the semis here before falling to Rutgers sophomore Scott Winston- big win for Winston. Winston then lost to Chris Brown of ODU in OT in the finals. We will remember Brown for being the 2004 Ironman champion at 152- a weight which he dominated. He also had the random win over Mark Perry a couple of years ago.
184-
Dave Erwin made the finals before being pinned in 2:38 by teammate Quentin Wright. You can't really fault him for this- Wright is a monster. Good to see him make the finals of a tournament, though, a positive step after a few setbacks this year. I hope he can put it together in his final year- I was always a big fan of his.

Chris Brown also beat Nick Marable. I feel like he has another super-win under his belt, but I can't think of who it was against.
