Updated brackets are up.

http://www.brockport.edu/athletics/wrestling/history/Results/2009_Oklahoma_Gold_Classic.pdf

Triggas got decked 7-0 by a guy I've never heard of and probably will never hear of again.
Paddock actually beat Thome from Army and will face Mitcheff in the semis. He won 9-5!

Sponseller majors Tice. Rella won by major, too. Pucillo by pin.

Magrum beats Cogar in OT. Looks like he's adjusted to the weight OK, but I'm sure he'll still struggle with it.

The bracket says Morrison lost, but I watched it and I think he actually won 12-2. If I'm wrong, he faces Hiles in the consos.

At 133, you've got Eckstrom and Paddock in the semis. Both were multiple NY state champs and very highly regarded recruits. Eckstrom beat Paddock in state finals last year but Paddock's shoulder was an issue.

Harrington loses by a point in semis to solid Eric Morrill then wins in cons against Triggas. I've often wondered where the depth was at 125--now I have an answer.

125-Harrington lost to Morrill in a competitive semi. He will face Triggas in consis.
133-Mitcheff over Paddock by a couple. Mitcheff looked bigger.
141-Hump looked dominant in his semi.
149-Palmer controlled dominance in semi. Takes on Terry in the final.
157-Nemec lost in double OT to #1 seed Chad Terry.
165-King and Sponseller in the marque match of the night.
174-I felt like Rella's opponent stalled the whole 2nd and 3rd period. Rella faces James in the finals.
184-Pucillo vs Kilgore-Marque match #2.
197-Magrum's win over Cogar legitimizes him at this weight imo. Lapotsky controlled the semi.
285-Como looked to be the better guy on his feet but gave up several sets of backpoints.

How bad did Harrington beat Triggas?

Scott: good point about Magrum over Cogar. I'm a Cogar fan and am a bit surprised at this result. Magrum has impressed me with this win. Hopefully both guys have great seasons.

Interesting decision for Ryan at 125. Sounds like Triggas got beat soundly by Harrington. Hmmm...? Paddock losing 6-3 to Mitcheff is no disgrace for a true freshman. I want to see if he can comeback to get 3rd. BTW Bucks are in 1st place, let's see them finish on top. Interesting side note: Nemec wrestles Edinboro's Matt Laird, who beat Jameson last week 7-3 in the fresh/soph division of EMU Open. We'll see how well Sean does against a common opponent.

Pretty dominating win for Kilgore....5-2 He looked awesome all tourny with a pin of Bradshaw in the semis. Pucillo did not look in "midseason form" thats for sure but you cant take anything away from Kilgore,,,,GREAT tourny!

.....and from what I could see in the background matches...it looked as though Harrington, Paddock and Nemec all took 3rd...but don't quote me on that.

Here is what I see about OSU results from today:
Palmer and Humphrey 1st places: Pucillo, Rella, Colt 2nd places: Nemec and Paddock 3rd places: Magrum, Morrison, and Harrington 4th places: and Hiles 6th place. We ended up second, we lost to Oklahoma University by 0.5 pts!!

Why don't they just redshirt Triggas and let him bump up to 133 next year?

Marlo, my thoughts exactly!
The weight cut really seems to be too much for Triggas. If it isn't that then he peaked out two years ago, and that doesn't seem likely. Harrington looks like he's ready to contribute this year, which might be his only chance because of Stieber coming in next season.
I wish coach Ryan would let Sponseller redshirt, because this year the competition is just too brutal. He might not AA again. It would be good to just let Sponsy rest up this year and be rejuvinated for his final two years of competition.
Did anyone else notice that Lehigh beat PSU yesterday? Pretty surprising.
