Saw TOSU had some mixed results at the EMU Open. Positive results from Vaughan, Fee, Jameson, Capone and Hiles in the frosh/soph level. Not so much on the senior/junior level. Triggas places low with two or three losses against non-stellar competition. He seemed to be the only anticipated TOSU starter in this tourny.

Nice to see Jameson back on the mat again. I see he was at 157 lbs. Other than his 7-3 loss to an Edinboro kid in the finals, he had a pin along with 11-7, 16-9 & 16-8 wins. We should be in good shape this year with him & Nemec at 157.

Some interesting results. As mentioned, some good results by freshman and sophmores. Nice to see good results from Hiles and Capone as they most likely figure into future plans. Did anyone else notice that Kusar competed in the open division and Jameson in the freshman/sophmore. I may be reading too much into it but does this suggest Kusar is ahead of Jameson on the depth chart?

I think Bucks young wrestlers had a very good tourney. Zach Tinch and Jake Vaughan were both top six. Mike Fee, Pete Capone and John Hiles were champs. Hiles winning is not a shock but Capone and Fee are pleasant surprises. Both were later additions to last recruiting class. If they can rise within program it makes it a much better class.

Jameson taking 2nd is noteworthy for a kid that's been out of comp for a year. One hopes he is returning to the form that made him such a great hs standout. On the other hand, should one expect less from a former 4x state champ?

Scott Mattingly finished 2nd at 141 for CMU. It's amazing how quickly their recruits seem to produce.

Ben Sturgeon from Findlay beat Michigan's highly regarded Sean Boyle en route to a 2nd place finish. One wonders if Shawn Nelson has found his next multiple national champ?

No Heflin, C. Palmer, Harrington or Paddock (among others).

As to Bucks in Open Comp, most noteworthy participant was Triggas--who took 6th.

Josh Falk (Findlay) placed top 8 at a tough 141 division. Jared Kusar also placed top 8 at 149.

Robbie Michaels, CSU, was their lone bright spot. He lost 9-5 to Jarrod King en route to finishing 4th. Marcus Effner competed at 174 but didn't do much. Jordan Keller dnp at 125. One hopes he isn't regressing.

Chris Honeycutt won by fall over Nick Palmieri in the 184 pound finals. Palmieri beat tough Pat Bradshaw during the tourney.

Kusar was at 149, Jameson at 157, so they may not even be in contention for the same spot. I'm wondering if Lance wrestles in the All-Star meet, who takes his place at the Buckeye Duals, which is the same day as the All-Star match? Even with the 3 hour time difference, I can't imagine Lance wrestling early in the day, then hop a plane to be in Cal. for the All-Star match.

The Ben Sturgeon listed is actually Ben Sergent.

That's fantastic. Glad he's showing his stuff. Look forward to following him as a Roughneck.

Perhaps Ben Sergent will become known for more than "just" being one of the two wrestlers to beat David Taylor in high school folkstyle.

Haha, so true. He was a 2x Fargo champ after all.
