Quote from John Ice's post:

"Then the freshman Kemerer beats the #9 ranked senior Valimont.4-3."

Redshirt or true freshman?"

Kemerer is a true frosh. Very impressive.

Quote from Hank Kornblut's post:

"David Taylor's top skills will help him immensely in D1 competition.

Question: Who will have the better college career? Collin Palmer or David Taylor? Any thoughts?"

The competition in that certain weight class will have a lot to do with that. A fresh at 141/174 has much better chance that 157/165.

I wish they would have shown the rest of the match so we could see David riding him...

It is pretty clear that he doesn't have the horsepower yet. This really isn't surprising considering that about 18 months ago he was wrestling 112 and Cyler was AA at the NCAA's at 157.

Anyone who has wrestled in college knows how rough that first month or two is in the prarctice room. I remember not even getting a takedown in the first month of the season (it might have been until Chrtistmas break!), and going to my dorm room wondering what I was doing. Haha.

In no way am I comparing myself to David Taylor because I am pretty sure he would have beaten me when he was a freshman 103, but the degree of improvement is HUGE after that initial shock of wrestling college men for the first time. I don't think he will be beating Snaderson by the end of the year, but I guarantee this is a much closer match around Christmas time.

Luke, I'd really like to forget those "dark days" of wrestling. I think I had two takedowns max against Matt Dernlan (and one of them I'm pretty sure he slipped and I fell on him). If the mental toughness stays through Christmas, I'd hope it'd be closer. I'd expect to see a completely different looking body on Taylor by May.

Only one ankle pick attempt and David was able to scramble out of that one.

He was just overmatched. He won't stay that way.

I for one am not worried about Taylor. Man strength comes with time, and he sure isn't lacking in technique.

Erwin's result dissapoints me. I had high hopes for him coming into college, and he had that great freshman year. He has struggled since then. Hopefully he can turn the corner and fulfill his potential this year, of which there is plenty.

I think Taylor is similar to Jordan Oliver. Unlike Oliver, however, he's moved up so many wts (as was pointed out in an earlier post) that his power hasn't had time to catch up with his size. He's a perfect example of why you try to redshirt your studs.

David Erwin has dealt with a lot of adversity during his career. He's had some terrific moments but it's hard to make a lot of improvement when you keep getting hurt. (Unless you're J. Jaggers)
