Discussion Topic: Recruiting - Fall 2009

Big fan of recruiting discussion. I read the InterMat Ohio top 10 today, and only Sako and Habat are currently not committed.

I am very impressed by this senior class.

Josh, Bob, Dan, etc, how does this class compare with past seasons? Jr Freestyle Champ Mitch ranked as the 6th best in this class shows a very strong top side.

Aside from Sako and Habat, who are the unsigned seniors who will have an impact at the next level?

Sako's dad wrestled for CSU. Could he end up there?

Hank - InterMat has Sako's visits listed as:

Cornell, Penn, Minnesota, Cal Poly, and Virginia

Not sure if this is accurate, just what is reported.

Well, my guess is that CSU is not in the picture.

I don't know if this is a banner class or not. That will be decided in the events of the coming year.

Because of how ungodly strong PA is with its senior class this year, the rest of the country is going unnoticed it seems.

Josh: Who are the big names that are still unsigned?

State or national?

State-wise, only Habat and Sako from the Wrestling49 top 10 by Dan Ransick are unsigned. I happen to concur with that group of ten.

Outside the top ten group, the next tier of kids is all un-committed but for Salupo and Hightower (who just verballed to VaTech).
Brad Squire - Wadsworth
Shawn Fayette - Miamisburg
Robert Shepherd - Mason
Kory Mines - Maple Heights
Nick Lawrence - Westlake

I was thinking national...

I know Mike Evans remains unsigned. Baldosaro is also still uncommitted. Who else?

Josh - is Habat committed, overlooked, or do you think those five are above him? Just curious. Appreciate your insight.

Hank:

Going off the InterMat list and profiles ...

#3 Chris Villalonga (Blair) - he's probably closing in on a decision based on his making five visits (Cornell, Lehigh, Harvard, Penn, and Rutgers) listed in chronological order. Princeton cited in the profile.

#9 Anthony Baldosaro (Eastern Regional NJ)

#12 Mike Evans (Blair)

#19 Jimmy Lawson (Manchester NJ)

#20 Nick Dardanes (OPRF IL) - Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska leading the way

#21 Steven Hernandez (Bishop Gorman NV)

#25 Kyle Cowan (Cascia OK)

#27 Brandon Rolnick (Lawrenceville NJ)

#29 Brandon Wright (Warren Central IN)

I'd like to see the Bucks grab Baldosaro to close out the early commitments.

Habat is the 8th ranked Ohio recruit in the piece, and would be the same from me as well.

It's a simple matter of the combo of overall production and upside talent. No more or less if you ask me.

Scott: It would be like landing Kindig. Similar attack style and physical toughness. I don't think the Bucks were ever "in" on Baldosaro. It's probably too late. I'd love to be wrong.

no more $$ for Baldasaro or any other major star this year---- given fact ohio st wants Hunter Stieber, Phillips and Campolattano next year. Not much money left now for this year.

its like going to a great buffet, but u know u cant eat all the dishes, so u make decisions.
