Harry Lester fell to hometown boy Mark Madsen of Denmark in the 1st Round of the World Championships. Madsen is in the finals and Harry is still in the running for the Bronze.

Brackets have Harry losing in the first round of Repechage Bracket to Rafiq Huseynov of Azerbaijan. Praise God for Harry getting this far despite any controversy that might have occured! Congrats Harry and Great Job representing our country!

Wow talk about getting screwed. Harry wins the first period. Madsen takes the second. Then Harry takes down after a scoreless third period (if he doesn't get turned, he wins) and the ref cautions Harry for pulling at the fingers. Madsen gets the point, the U.S. coaches protest. The call stands and Harry was unable to score with :12 left.

I may have had my facts wrong on the last period. I was trying to piece it together from the live forum, but themat.com has Madsen winning the last period 3-0

Congrats on making the World Team again, Harry. It has been enjoyable to follow your career and comeback. Moving up 18 competitive pounds in one season is not easy. You've represetned yourself, your family and Ohio in a way that makes us all proud.

Joe

I was thinking the exact same thing as Joe said. It's great to see Harry on the mats again and on the World Team even though the end result wasn't what he wanted.

But here's a silver lining...
Madsen, who won the silver medal, has now won three silver medals the past four world championships and placed seventh the other year! That's one heck of a resume. Harry not only won a period over him but, if the above account is correct, he would have won the match if not for the caution.
