The team is looking for wrestlers currently in the 6th-11th grade and that weigh between 70 and 220 pounds. Interested wrestlers should have at least a 2.5 grade point average. An application for the team can be found at: http://ohiotofc.com/index1.php?intId=7 and we hope to select the team by November 1.
Team organizers stress that while they hope to have a couple of "studs" on the team, they are not looking to field as "powerful" of a team as they can. Instead, they are looking for good wrestlers that will behave and will represent Ohio well.
We are still working on the total cost, but it should be in the $4000-$5000 range. This total would include everything (team camp, airfare, lodging, meal money, equipment, sightseeing, etc...) except souvenir spending. Fundraising materials will be provided to those selected to the team.
The camp/tour should take place within the dates of June 7-July 17 (we are still working on the specific dates - a lot depends on when the New Zealand North & South Island Championships are scheduled.) Plans are for the tour to include a stop in one US city as well.
Scheduled coaches for the team are Eddie Jayne (Head Coach at Watkins Memorial HS and a 3X state champ) and MIke Geisz (Head Coach at St. Charles HS and a 6X Coach of the Ohio All-Stars).
