You may have noticed the new advertisement on OhioWrestling.net for To Be The Best.
To Be The Best is a book that was written with the high school wrestler and high school reader in mind. It is in the running for “Best Young Adult Novel” in the 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards, got high marks from all of its young male test-readers, and several high school and junior high teachers have commented that it is a book that high school boys will enjoy reading.
The story focuses on a Midwest high school wrestling team and follows the stories of two brothers in particular. Ron Castle is a high school junior and naturally gifted wrestler. He made it all the way to the state title match as a sophomore. Nick, Ron’s younger brother, is a shy sophomore. He lacks Ron’s raw talent but has a ton of heart and works hard day in and day out in pursuit of his dream of becoming a state champion.
Readers interested in checking out the story can visit the “Download” page at www.HHCastle-Mac.com where they can download a PDF file of the first section of the book. Schools and clubs interested in selling the book as a fundraiser can visit the “Fundraiser” tab at the same site.
Although it was written for wrestlers, it has also gotten positive feedback from readers who don’t know a takedown from a touchdown. Similar to the way movies like Rudy appeal to people who don’t know anything about football, this book has received rave reviews from readers of varying ages and backgrounds who enjoy a good “pursue your dreams” story.
To Be The Best is available at this weekend’s Ohio Tournament of Champions (at the Wrestling Apparel table), online and through most book stores. If your favorite store does not have it in stock, you can ask them to special order it for you.
