This season in the state of Indiana a young man named Josh Harper was going for his 4th state title but fell short in the semi's of the state tourney. My question is,has it ever happened in Ohio? I can't think of any senior going for there 4th title to have lost. I know of several juniors who lost there bid but just can't think of it ever happening to a senior.

My understanding is that it has never happened in Ohio but I am no expert on the history of Ohio wrestling statistics.

Actually according to this article, he still has a chance to win his forth title. He lost in what is called the Semi-State tournament. I'm not sure exactly what that is but I guess he still has a chance.

You know, I probably would have caught that if he has lost in the quarter finals or the finals but he had to lose not only in the state semis, but also at the semi states.

In an article, they said he wrestled the whole year with a torn labrum.

No wrestler has lost at the state tournament going for his 4th title. The closest wrestlers were Winebereg who won in OT and Jameson who had some close calls last year.

A couple other notes: 3x champ, Dan Hanson, had to beat a 2x champ (I forget this wrestler's name) to get his 4th title.
Also, Clint Musser won two titles and was certainly among the better competitors in Ohio hs history. Then he ran into Jon Vaughn--who had killer defense and crazy riding skills. Bad matchup for Musser and he ends up losing in the finals. Came back to win it the following year.

Another example like Musser was Ben Jordan who lost to Pelton his junior year. He came back to win it the next year.
